PU Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Ludhiana Zone-A concludes

Ludhiana, October 21, 2014: Panjab University Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival of Ludhiana Zone-A concluded today at Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana. The final day was dedicated to Ustaad Lal Chand Yamla Jatt Ji. Cut-throat competition was witnessed in Giddha, Group Folk Dance, Group Folk Orchestra and Folk Instruments. Participating students attired in traditional cultural costumes spread vivacious colours in the campus.

Professor Naval Kishore, Dean College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the chief guest in the morning session. He said that youth festival provides a platform to the talented students of the region and helps in keeping the heritage alive. He further highlighted that such competitions are a means of improving one’s performance. He distributed the prizes to the winning teams of yesterday’s items in the presence of Dr. Mukesh Arora, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Principal Dr. R.S. Jhanjhi, Principal Dr. R.L. Behal, Principal Dr. Narinder Singh Sidhu and other dignitaries.

Ravneet Singh Bittu, Member Parliament was the chief guest for the valedictory and prize distribution ceremony. He appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty in organising the gala event and was impressed by the vibes exhibited by the juvenile participants. Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLA Ludhiana (West) also graced the occasion.

Dr. Ravi Inder Singh, In-charge youth festival welcomed the guests. Dr. Hardiljit Singh Gosal, Director Panjab University Regional Centre, congratulated the winning teams and thanked staff, students and management of participating colleges. He appreciated the efforts put in by the staff and students of Panjab University Regional Centre for making this event a grand success. He extended a special thanks to administrative authorities of city for their co-operation and support for smooth conduct of youth festival. Later in the evening, a family get together was organized in the campus for the staff and students of PURC Ludhiana to celebrate the successful completion of four days mega event.
