PU official fb page and its contents received 5.66 crore impressions in last two years

Chandigarh, October 22, 2015: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh official Facebook page and its contents have received 5.66 crore impressions in the last two years. 
PU Director, Public Relations, Mr Vineet Punia gave this information on the completion of two years of the official Facebook page(https://www.facebook.com/official.pu.india).
Mr.Punia informed that the social media experience of PU Facebook page has been amazing and quite impressive. The PU Facebook page is followed by about 1.2 lakh people from 46 countries. He informed that 2.54 crore people have seen any content associated with the Page during the two years. As many as 21.30 lakh people got engaged with the Page, which included any click or story created, he added. 
It may be noted that in year 2014-15, the PU Facebook page has got fifth rank in the country among all educational institutions and top rank amongst all the public Universities of the country in the social media rankings released by India’s leading carrier counselling magazine ‘Career360’. Incidentally, PU was the first Indian Public University, whose Facebook Page was verified by the Facebook.
Congratulating the students, alumni and the followers of the page, PU Director, Public Relations, Mr Vineet Punia said that the credit for the success goes to them.
Mr Punia informed that the Facebook page has emerged as important tool for reaching out to the students, alumni and its well wishers settled in the country and various parts of the globe. The page received hits from cities like Chandigarh, New Delhi, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Bangluru, Gurgaon, Melbourne (Australia), Toronto (Canada), Auckland (New Zealand), Sydney(Australia), Brampton (Canada) and Dubai (UAE). The hits data provided by Facebook indicate that PU page is also popular in Canada, Australia, USA, UK, New Zealand, UAE, Pakistan, Italy and Nepal, he further informed.
It may be recalled that PU Facebook page was launched on October 21, 2013. 66 percent of these followers are in the age group of 18 to 24 years and 24 percent are in the age group of 25 to 34 years. 32 percent of total PU fans are females. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
