Chandigarh, December 2, 2015: Principal of Panjab University (PU) Dental Institute & Hospital, Dr.Ashish Jain has been appointed as Associate Research Investigator in the Department of Applied Oral Sciences at Forsyth Institute, which is a Harvard University affiliated Institute situated in Boston.
Forsyth was founded over hundred years ago and is a leading research institute in US which has worked relentlessly in the domain of oral and associated Systemic diseases to elucidate new bio-medical ways so that the billions lead healthier lives. Forsyth Institute has been liberally funded by the Federal Agencies of United States and have had made many scientific break-through like developing first local antibiotic to control gum diseases, identifying the cause of two most common diseases, i.e., dental decay and periodontical diseases. It is the only independent research institute in America specializing in oral health and its impact on overall wellness. Recently, scientists at Forsyth discovered bacteria that causes tuberculosis and later on stay dormant within bone-marrow stem cells.
Dr. Ashish Jain when contacted said that he has been humbled over his appointment and looking forward to leverage this collaboration with the premier most research institute in the world and one of the premier universities in India. Dr. Jain was of the view that this collaboration shall give quantum leverage to the research activities within the Dental Institute. Though this is an individual appointment, yet simultaneously holding the Chair of the Institute, I shall make best efforts to convert it into institutional collaboration, he added. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
