Professor Suresh Sharma from PU to work with VA Medical centre and NIH, USA

Dr. Suresh Sharma, Professor in the Department of Statistics, Panjab University has been invited by Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, Dallas (from June 6th to 20st June 2023) to work on a collaborative project ‘Comparative Study of Coronavirus Pandemic in the United States and India through Predictive Modeling’.

Chandigarh, May 29, 2023: Dr. Suresh Sharma, Professor in the Department of Statistics, Panjab University has been invited by Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, Dallas (from June 6th to 20st June 2023) to work on a collaborative project ‘Comparative Study of Coronavirus Pandemic in the United States and India through Predictive Modeling’. Dallas VA Medical Center provides primary care and specialty health services including cardiology, Covid-19 post care services, mental health, suicide prevention, women’s health care, and many others. He will share findings of this project with the scientists working in this center.

He is also invited by National Institute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Washington, DC, (from June 22nd to June 30th, 2023) where he will work on Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and deliver a talk on ‘Advanced Statistical Methods used in Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS)’. These methods help scientists to identify genes associated with a particular disease. 

During his visit he will interact with biologists and bioinformatics scientists working at National Eye Institute (NEI/NIH), USA. Professor Sharma is a renowned Biostatistician and has written more than 135 research papers in National/International Journals of repute. Inspite of this, he has written several book chapters and also a book on ‘Medical Statistics’, launched by International Medical Olympiad, Greece.
