PPCB Lays Eco-Fert In 4th Green Bridge On Budha Nullah

Ludhiana, April 24, 2015: A demonstration project on the ecological restoration of existing water quality of Budha Nullah, using an In-Situ Bio-remediation technique by building Green Bridges Technology, is under commissioning at Village Jainpur, Ludhiana. The scheme is funded by MoEF and Central Pollution Control Board, Government of India and under the scheme, five Green Bridges are to be constructed for Bio-remediation of waste water flowing in Budha Nullah. The cost of this project is Rs. 15.28 crore. The technology has been provided by Shristi Eco-Research Institute, Pune, which is being implemented by M/s Green Infrastructure, Pune with the help of various Departments of the State Govt.

Out of 5 no. proposed Green Bridges, 3 no. Green Bridges have already been constructed and are operational at site. The construction of 4th Green Bridge was already completed.

On Thursday, the laying of Eco-Fert in the 4thGreen Bridge was started at 10:00 am in the presence of Workdone Committee headed by Er. Harbir Singh, Senior Environmental Engineer, Zonal Office-II, Ludhiana and M.K. Chaudary, S.E., Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi, Ravi Kumar, Sub-Division Engineer (Representative of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board), Amrik Singh, Sub-Division Engineer (Representative of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana), Gurtej Singh Garcha, Sub-Division Engineer (Representative of Department of Irrigation) and Prashant Aggarwal, Business Head (Green Infrastructure, Pune).

The PPCB officials informed that 100 tonnes of Eco-Fert was laid in 4th Green Bridge and 25 tonnes of Eco-Fert has been laid at the upstream of 4th Green Bridge in stream of Budha Nallah. A total of 246 Kg of Liquid bacteria was also loaded in the 4th Green Bridge. The result of Bio-remediation of this 4th Green Bridge will start coming in the first week of May, 2015. The remaining 5th Green Bridge will also be commissioned by May 31, 2015.
