Shri Machhiwara Sahib, November 23, 2015: A nine year old girl was charred to death when a devastating fire gutted shanties at village Partapgarh on Machhiwara-Kohara road in the evening. The deceased was identified as Shehnaz Khatoon(9).
As per information some laborers are staying in the fields of village Partapgarh in shanties. Today in the evening a Shanty caught in fire and the fire gutted all the shanties. At the time of fire Shehnaz mentally retarded daughter of Mohamad Nawis was sleeping in his shanties and she was charred to death as the laborers failed to evacuate her.
As per SHO Koom Kalan Surjit Singh three fire engines were called to douse the fire but by the time nine year old girl was caught in fire and she died due to fire. Due to fire most of the valuables of the laborers were gutted in fire along with some currency also. The body of the girl was sent for post mortem and will be handed over to her guardians after post mortem. As per SHO the real cause of fire could not be ascertained immediately however he said that the fire may have broke out from some shantie at the time of making meals. / (SK Shourie, Khanna)
