Says, PM Modi made the law stricter for protection of Dalits and initiated various schemes since four years for their development

Ludhiana, April 14, 2018: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working day and night since the last four years to ensure that the Dalits get their due respect, jobs, education, and are uplifted from poverty. This was stated by Rajya Sabha MP and President Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab Shwait Malik who was addressing a state-level program organized by the party in Ludhiana today on the occasion of Dr.Bhim Rao Abmedkar’s birth anniversary. The state unit of the BJP had organized such programs in 33 places across the state today.

Pointing that in the elections Congress twice ensured Dr. Ambedkar's defeat and took no steps to honour him since his death, Malik said that the BJP realized the ideology of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi honoured him by developing the Panchtiraths linked to various aspects of his life in Mahu, Nagpur, Delhi, Mumbai and London, after coming into power in 2014. The work on the projects is almost complete today, he added.

“While, it was due to PM Modi’s efforts that Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary was celebrated at the UN, he kept his promise today and inaugurated Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial at Alipur Road in Delhi, a place where Dr. Ambedkar breathed his last. Prior to this he inaugurated Dr. Ambedkar International Centre at the Janpath in Delhi on the occasion of Dr. Ambedkar’s death anniversary in December last year.

“By launching the National SC/ST Hub, Stand up India, Zero Defect Zero Effect and Venture Captial Fund schemes, PM Modi has provided support to entrepreneurs form the community. He made it mandatory for every branch of the banks to provide a bank loan to at least one Dalit for business activity. Those who used to seek jobs will now create jobs for others. The community will now progress and add to the economic growth of the nation”, said Malik.

The Punjab BJP chief further said, “In year 2015, the Modi government amended the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the crimes covered under the law were increased from 22 to 123. Also the courts, as far as possible, were to complete trial of the case within two months, from the date of filing of the charge sheet. PM Modi also ensured that state governments form State Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committees under the Chairpersonship of the Chief Minister and District level Vigilance and Monitoring Committees under the Chairpersonship of the District Magistrate in States/UTs to review implementation of the provisions of the Act”.

Malik was flanked by Ludhiana district president Ravinder Arora, former state president Prof. Rajinder Bhandari, state general secretaries- Dinesh Kumar, Jeevan Gupta and Kewal Kumar; state vice-presidents- Rakesh Rathore and Anil Sarin; secretary Renu Thapar, and state treasurer Gurdev Sharma Debi, beside Praveen Bansal, Kamal Chetli and others.
