Ludhiana, July 10, 2018: In order to enhance green cover and ensure upkeep of the plants under Tandrust Punjab mission, the deputy commissioner (DC) Pradeep Kumar Agrawal has come up with novel way as now the Ludhiana residents would be motivated to plant a saplings in the memory of their loved ones and maintain later.

In a meeting convened by DC to review the activities carried out under the mission Tandrust Punjab by 12 departments, Agrawal directed the forest department to find out a suitable land in the city for this purpose which will help to transform the campaign into a mass movement by ensuring maintenance of saplings after they were planted.

He said that the distribution of the plant is good but there is a special need to give proper care and preservation of the saplings.

DC also asked the sports department to hold the camps in villages as there is no dearth of talent in rural areas but the need is to capture. He asked them to provide more facilities and chances to villages’ youngsters to hone their skills by organizing sports tournaments.

Agrawal told Mission ‘Tandrust Punjab’ was a comprehensive mission to preserve and improve the quality of air, water, and food in the state, thereby ensuring a good living environment for the citizens of Punjab.

He told that all 12 government departments must work collectively round the clock to achieve the goals of mission Tandrust Punjab by running mass awareness drives among the people in the state and making Punjab healthiest state in the country.

DC ordered the co-operative, transport, PPCB, and water resources departments to intensify the activities of their departments. Agrawal said that he would review the activities of the departments each week.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (development) Shena Aggarwal, ADC (G) Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Assistant Commissioner (G) Amarinder Singh Malhi, SDM Damanjeet Singh Maan and others were present.
