Jalandhar, April 22, 2016: To celebrate Natya Mahautsav 2016, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar in collaboration with Jalandhar District Administration staged a play 'Ji Aaya Sahib' on the 4th day of Jalandhar Theatre Festival. It is a Play by the renowned Saadat Hasan Manto and it is directed by Chakresh Kumar of Alankar Theatre, Chandigarh.
Principal of the College, Dr. Sucharita Sharma extended a floral welcome to the worthy Chief Guest Sh. Sanjeev Shama, SDM, Shahkot. She also extended a warm welcome to the theatre artists for giving a refreshing experience to the young minds of Jalandhar. She said in this era of bone breaking hard work, one needs to soothe his mind and the efforts of Jalandhar District Administration are highly commendable in this regard. Not only this, it will boost the literary tastes of people which they are losing in this modern world of technology.
‘Ji Aaya Sahib’ depicts the burning issue of child labour. In this play, a child who is working in a house hurts himself repeatedly to get leave from his job and consequently he has to face many problems because of it. This play displays the problem of child labour in our country as well as that how children are drawn towards the dangerous things without realizing its bad impact on them. Jyoti, Bandana, Deep Chand, Pawan, Meenu, Arvind, Roshni, Srijna, Pooja, Vishnu Maya, Sachin and, Bhoopraj brilliant artists of Alankar Theatre, Chandigarh beautifully executed the play.
Sh. Sanjeev Sharma, SDM, Shahkot said it was a matter of immense pleasure for him to observe such a brilliant enactment of the play. He said such events are need of the hour which can relieve one's mind from the clutches of stress.
