Ludhiana, April 10, 2017: A two-day training course was organized at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for PCS probationers. The course was held under the guidance of Dr R.S.Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, PAU.
The experts discussed the problems and priorities of Punjab agriculture, research achievements during last five years, role of varietal development programme, role of biotechnology in crop improvement, prospects of processing and value addition in Punjab, and development and conservation of forest and natural resources. Besides, the experts deliberated on the present status and future thrust of vegetable production in Punjab, diversification through fruit production in the state, status and efficient management of water resources in agriculture, and farm machinery for paddy straw management.
Meanwhile, the University is planning to hold vocational and career development programme for school going children on April 11 and 18. The training will focus on vocational and career development programmes related to agriculture, agricultural engineering, basic sciences and humanities, home science and veterinary science.
