PAU INKS PACT WITH NAGPUR FIRM

Ludhiana, November 1, 2017: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) entered into an agreement with Ankur Seeds Private Limited, Nagpur, for the commercialization of chilli hybrid CH-27. Dr Navtej Singh Bains, Director of Research, PAU, and Dr Ashwin Kashikar from Ankur Seeds Private Limited, signed the memorandum of agreement (MoA) in the presence of Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, and Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education.

Dr A.S.Dhatt, Head, Department of Vegetable Science, said PAU has signed six memoranda of agreement with companies/firms for the commercialization of CH-27.

Dr Salesh Jindal, Vegetable Breeder, said the chilli hybrid CH-27 is high yielding, rich in capsaicin and highly resistant to leaf curl virus disease. The plants of this hybrid bear fruits for a long time and the hybrid is highly suitable for drying and processing purposes, he added.

Dr S.S. Chahal, Adjunct Professor, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, said the Department of Vegetable Science, PAU, has signed 14 agreements with different companies/firms for the commercialization of seeds of various vegetable varieties/hybrids. So far, PAU has inked pact with more than 70 companies/firms/farms for the commercialization of seed of hybrids/varieties and technologies, he informed.
