PAU Holds Training On Solar Pumpsets With Micro Irrigation System

Ludhiana, December 1, 2015: The Precision Farming Development Centre (PFDC), Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a one-day training programme on “Solar Pumpsets with Micro Irrigation System.”As many as 36 officers from the Department of Soil and Water Conservation, Punjab participated in the programme.
 
Dr Rajan Aggarwal, Head, Department of Soil and Water Engineering highlighted the importance of agricultural pumps and their integration with the solar photovoltaic system.
 
Dr Rakesh Sharda, Principal Investigator, PFDC, said this training programme will go a long way in the successful penetration of the solar powered micro irrigation system. He informed that the trainees were taught about different aspects of the drip integrated with solar photovoltaic system. The experts shed light on different pumping systems, selection design and installation of agricultural pumps, solar powered micro irrigation system and design. The trainees visited PFDC farm and Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant in the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, PAU. The experts included Dr K.G Singh, Dr Derminder Singh, Dr Sunil Garg and Dr Sukhmeet Singh.
