Ludhiana, February 19, 2016: The Directorate of Extension Education and the Directorate of Research conducted a One Day training programme on Cotton Production and Protection technology for the Chief Agricultural Officers and Agriculture Development Officers of Punjab. The training was attended by 60 participants from the South West districts of Fazilka, Bathinda, Mansa, Muktsar, Sangrur, and Barnala. The programme was organized keeping in view the extensive damage caused by white fly to cotton crop last year, and was focused on strategies for effective management of white fly in cotton during the oncoming kharif season.
Dr. Balwinder Singh, Director Research, PAU, while addressing the participants, cautioned them on the use of insecticides and stressed on the need to strictly follow PAU recommended practices for the management of white fly. He also recommended regular surveillance of fields for white fly on alternate host plants.
BRIEF
A two day special training course on Production of Milk Products for farmers/ farm women of the state will be organized by the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU from February 23 to 24. The training will cover topics like importance of proper handling and storage of milk, production of flavoured milk, yogurt, buttermilk, ice-cream mix , kulfi, cottage cheese and Indian sweetmeats.
