Panjab University Syndicate approve Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta as new Dean University Instructions

Chandigarh, May 29, 2016: Panjab University (PU) Syndicate today approved Professor Dinesh Kumar Gupta as the new Dean University Instructions of the University. Dr. Gupta is the Professor at University Business School (UBS) at PU.
The PU Syndicate deferred the issue of grant of temporary affiliation to the new proposed college namely Multi Disciplinary Professional College, Attam Pahad, Garacharma Village, Andaman and Nicobar, Port Blair till the approval from the Government of India.
The Syndicate also approved the proposal to appoint Prof Sanjeev Puri as the Honorary Director of Centre for Industry Institute Partnership Programme (CIIPP) for three years. Prof Puri is working as Professor in the Biotechnology Branch of UIET, PU. He has three patents and presented papers in numerous national and international conferences.
The PU Syndicate approved the proposal to make membership of Staff Club and Community Centre as compulsory for all the University teaching and non-teaching staff. The membership fee would be Rs. 100 per month and Rs. 75 per month for employees getting pay in pay band 4 and pay band 3 respectively. It would be Rs. 50 per month for rest of the PU employees.
The PU Syndicate approved guideline for the Junior Research Fellow (JRF) students studying at Ph.D programme, as per which they would be required to be present in the University Department or an approved Research Centre for a minimum period of 36 weeks including the course work.
The Syndicate gave its ‘in-principle’ approval for the creation of position of Associate Dean Students Welfare. The matter would now be considered by the Board of Finance (BoF) and after BoF approval, the matter would again be considered by the Syndicate for final approval.
The Syndicate approved the change in schedule for printing of preliminary register and the change of address for the senate election voters. The preliminary register would be available on June 10 and the existing voters can change their addresses upto June 22, 2016.
The Syndicate also approved the minutes of standing committee for implementation of policies and programmes of Government of India, UGC and state government for SC and ST.
The Syndicate today referred the eleven more Syndicate agenda items regarding the temporary extension of affiliation to the affiliation committee of Syndicate for consideration.
