In the field of global entertainment The Academy Awards are universally embraced as symbols of achievement. Winning an Oscar is the most prestigious thing for any professional in the film industry. Star Movies Select HD sticking true to its standard of curation by showcasing the best, sometimes even never seen before movies like Goodfellas, Casablanca, Whiplash, Titanic, The Shawshank Redemption, etc. in their newest film festival “Films To See Before You die” that is guaranteed to touch your lives. As we begin the start of the week, here is the line-up of most prestigious Oscar winning movies airing every day at 9pm!

MONDAY
Dead Poets Society – Oscar for Best Writing

Tom Schulman won the Oscar Award for Best Writing for the film- Dead Poet Society. In this film an English teacher John Keating inspires his students to look at poetry with a different perspective of authentic knowledge and feelings. Starring none other than Robbie Williams, Ethan Hawke and many other- the film created a tremendous perspective at education and the beautiful relationship between teacher and student.

TUESDAY
A Streetcar Named Desire - Oscar for Best Acting and Best Art Direction

Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play , A Streetcar named Desire earned its makers a whopping four Academy Awards at the time of its release! The true ingenuity and storytelling of the film earned Vivien Leigh an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Karl Malden for Best Actor in Supporting Role, Kim Hunter winning Best Actress in a Supporting Role and the Oscar for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Black-and-White was conquered by Richard Day and George James Hopkins. Four Oscars made the film glorious and indeed makes it a part of Star Movies Select HD’s “Films to See Before You Die’. In this film, disturbed Blanche DuBois moves in with her sister in New Orleans and is tormented by her brutish brother-in-law while her reality crumbles around her.

WEDNESDAY
From Here To Eternity – Multiple Oscar Awards

Known to be a racy film and acclaimed for its fearlessness on the big screen, From Here To Eternity pictured in Hawaii in 1941 tells the story of a private who is cruelly punished for not boxing on his unit's team, while his captain's wife and second-in-command are falling in love. This film had bagged multiple Oscar Awards like Best Picture by Buddy Adler, in Best Actor a Supporting Role by Frank Sinatra, Best Actress in a Supporting Role by Donna Reed, Best Director by Fred Zinnemann, Best Writing, Screenplay by Daniel Taradash, Best Cinematography, Black-and-White by Burnett Guffey, Best Sound & Recording byJohn P. Livadary and Best Film Editing by William A. Lyon.

THURSDAY
MASH – Oscar for Best Writing

MASH grabbed Oscar for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium by Ring Lardner Jr.. This comedy film tells the story of the staff of a Korean War field hospital who use humour and hijinks to keep their sanity in the face of the horror of war.

FRIDAY
Patton – Multiple Oscar Awards

Patton won multiple Oscar Awards like Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role by George C. Scott, Best Director, Best Writing, Story and Screenplay, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Sound and Best Film Editing. A compelling portrait of a controversial US General, the plot of this movie details The World War II phase of the career of the American general, George S. Patton.

These interesting bunch of Oscar Winning movies will be aired on this winter month’s first week (December 5th to 9th ) on Star Movies Select HD at 9pm.
