Ludhiana, February 19, 2015: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises-Development Institute (MSME-DI), Ludhiana in association with Fasteners Manufacturers Association of India, Ludhiana organised One Day Awareness Programme on Product Certification at MSME-Development Institute , Ludhiana on Thursday.  Narinder Bhamra, President, Fastener Manufacturers Association of India, was the Chief Guest. 
The main objective of the programme was to awareness among MSMEs about the scheme of Ministry of MSME, GoI, for Technology & Quality Upgradation TEQUP under which, MSME manufacturing units will be provided subsidy to the extent of 75% of the actual expenditure, towards obtaining product certification licensing from National Standardisation Bodies (like BIS(ISI Mark), BEE (Star rating) and Agmark etc.) or International Product Certifications (CE, UL, ANSI, etc.).
Manoj Sharma, Assistant Director (MSME)   welcomed  the participants, dignitaries and Scientist of  Bureau of Indian Standards, Chandigarh, in the inaugural function.  He also informed about aim of the programme.
Neeraj Arora, Assistant Director (MSME) informed all regarding the Various types of National & International Product Certification Standards like ISI Mark, Agmark, CE etc and explained the Importance of these standards in capturing global markets.
R. K. Parmar, Assistant Director (MSME) apprised the participants about the TEQUP scheme under which, MSME manufacturing units will be provided subsidy to the extent of 75% of the actual expenditure, towards obtaining product certification. He also explained the documentation required to claim the subsidy.
Archana Rohela, Scientist-E, from Bureau of Indian Standards, Chandigarh delivered the technical deliberations and informed the Role of BIS in Product Certification, Various Standards of BIS relevant to Fasteners Manufacturing Industry, authorisation procedure for using ISI mark on these Products, Product Testing Facilities of BIS and testing charges and procedures of BIS. She also informed that BIS is open to for every micro, small and medium enterprise for getting their product certified and providing them awareness on the procedures through various awareness program also conducted by BIS.
Narinder Bhamra also spoke on the occasion and stressed the need for getting products certified for National & International Standards as per the requirement of Indian & Global Market to survive in today’s tough competition.
Kamal Singh, Deputy Director, MSME -Di addressed the participants and said that GoI is aware of the severe constraints in managing enterprises under which MSEs units operate.  MSE sector is being provided support by the Govt. of India for making them globally competitive and achieve success in market.  This event is also one of the initiative under the support.
The programme was attended by more than 70 participants.
Ankur Pathak, Assistant Director, MSME Development Institute, Ludhiana briefed the participants regarding the technical support provided to MSMEs and also  gave  vote of thanks to the dignitaries and participation  of the programme.
Jaugal Kishore, Mohit Arora, Atul Sethi, Sanjay Kapoor, Pulkit, Harmeet Singh, Ajay Singla, Rupinder Oberoi along with 50 members of association attended the seminar.
