Ludhiana: Working on Government of India campaign, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, the NSS wing of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, conducted a campus beautification drive in the administrative block of GADVASU campus on Monday. The student volunteers first cleaned the garden areas and then designated areas around the campus to plant flowers, trees and perennials. The inadequate water supplies during the peak summer season made maintaining the plants difficult than the rest of the year. So the students joined hands to improve the look of the university campus. "It is great that everyone gets together and does one thing all at the same time for a common cause ", said Dr. Sivakumar, NSS College Coordinator. Later on, students adopted the old time method to seal tree trunks and protect them from damage by painting them white.

The Director Students Welfare, Dr. Satyavan Rampal said, "Being an environmentally active community program, it strives to ensure that students are provided with challenging tasks that will foster innovation, integrity and teamwork in an ever changing environment." Our students regularly took part in these type of campaigns to contribute for better environment. Dr. Rampal said that our society should be more sensitize and friendly for these type of activities. He hoped that in monsoon season every person should plant at least one plant at his nearby place with pledge of its proper care.

Nidhi Sharma, NSS University Programme Coordinator, informed that it isn't the first time that student volunteers have joined their hands to save mother earth at such an event. "We are a service organisation, so we try to do such work around the community and on campus. Even our NSS Volunteers always look forward to such community work, "she added.
