NSS unit of SGGS College concludes its 7 Day Special Camp

Chandigarh, January 6, 2016: The NSS unit of SGGS College Sector 26 Chandigarh concluded its 7 Day Special Camp on Sunday with a valedictory function. The function was inaugurated with 'Shabad' recitation by the NSS volunteers. The Chief Guest on the occasion, Sh.Subhash Chand, Regional Director, NSS Chandigarh, in his inspirational speech, encouraged the volunteers to further participate in the activities of social service and personality development. The Guest of Honour, S. Gurdev Singh (IAS Retd), President, Sikh Educational Society, also motivated the participants and also ensured full support for such events.
Over 100 NSS volunteers and non-student participants had a rich experience from varied activities held during the camp. On the first day of the camp, poster-making on the Camp theme "Youth for Swacch Bharat" was followed by orientation of the participants. A theme rally and a survey was organised on the second day in the adopted village Kaimbwala. On the third day, a meditation exercise was conducted in association with Art of Living and later in the day, a stage performance on women empower was delivered by the NGO Sarv Mahila Suraksha Dal. Next day, the volunteers adopted a lawn in the College Campus and also beautified the NSS Offic, followed by a sensitization lecture about the empowerment of the differently abled. The day fifth observed first aid training of volunteers and new year celebrations. On the second last day of the Camp, an educational - historical trip to Sanghol and Chappar Chirhi was organised. 
The Camp began with the full support extended by Prof. S S Kang and concluded with an equal and continuing support from the new Principal of the College, Prof. Kuldip Singh. The camp was organised under the supervision and guidance of Programme Officers Prof Amandeep Kaur and Prof Sandeep Singh Gill.
