NSS Unit of Ramgarhia Girls College Organises Awareness Session on Misuse of Antibiotics
The NSS Unit of Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana, organised an awareness session on the misuse of antibiotics in collaboration with Dainik Jagran, as part of the newspaper’s national campaign against antibiotic misuse. The objective of the session was to educate students about the responsible use of antibiotics and to highlight the growing threat of antibiotic resistance.
Ludhiana, February 11, 2026: The NSS Unit of Ramgarhia Girls College, Miller Ganj, Ludhiana, organised an awareness session on the misuse of antibiotics in collaboration with Dainik Jagran, as part of the newspaper’s national campaign against antibiotic misuse. The objective of the session was to educate students about the responsible use of antibiotics and to highlight the growing threat of antibiotic resistance.
The programme was organised under the able guidance of the Principal, Dr Ajit Kaur, who emphasised the importance of health awareness initiatives in educational institutions and encouraged students to act as responsible ambassadors of public health.
The session was graced by Dr Pawan Dhingra, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon with over 28 years of clinical experience, Founder of Dev Hospital, and President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Ludhiana Branch. Addressing the students, Dr Dhingra cautioned against self-medication, incomplete antibiotic courses, and the unnecessary use of antibiotics for viral infections. He stressed that antibiotic resistance is a serious and ongoing global health challenge that requires immediate attention and collective responsibility.
Dr Dhingra also highlighted that antibiotics should be taken strictly on medical advice and that completing the prescribed course is essential to prevent resistance. He urged students to spread awareness within their families and communities.
The session reflected the true spirit of NSS, guided by its motto “Not Me, But You,” and witnessed enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers and students. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Tajinder Kaur, Head of the Department of English. The awareness session proved to be informative and impactful, reinforcing the role of youth in safeguarding public health through informed and responsible practices.
