Rohtak, August 31, 2026: Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR) on Monday bid an emotional farewell to two senior doctors and two Assistant Nursing Superintendents (ANS) on their retirement.
A farewell ceremony was held at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium to honour Senior Professor of Surgery Dr Bhavinder Arora, Ophthalmology specialist Dr Reena Gupta, and ANSs Dayawanti Devi and Dhanpati. The Teachers Welfare Association also organised a separate felicitation programme at Lecture Theatre-1.
Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal said everyone wished they never had to retire, but completing one’s service with good health was a blessing. Recalling his association with Dr Arora since their MBBS days, he said Dr Arora had devoted a significant part of his life to serving the university and patients. He assured the retirees that the university would continue to extend all possible support to them.
Registrar Dr Roop Singh said retirement marked not an end but the beginning of a new phase of life. Director Dr SK Singhal said colleagues who work together for years become part of a family.
Dean Academic Affairs Dr MG Vashisht said the Surgery Department would always feel Dr Arora’s absence and added that Dr Naresh Pal would take charge of his unit. Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal also appreciated the contributions of the retiring doctors and ANSs.
Dr Arora said he began his career in 1980 and returned to the institution in 2008, thereafter serving extensively in the field of surgery. He has authored around 200 research papers and two books.
Dr Reena Gupta thanked her colleagues for their support and said her tenure at the institution had provided her with valuable learning experiences. The programme was conducted by Dr Sudhir Atri, while Dental College Principal Dr Manu Rathi wished the retirees a bright and fulfilling future.
