November month full of activities for dairy farmers- Ranike

Chandigarh, November 2, 2014: Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike today said that Punjab Government is going to organize total 125 special training camps for dairy farmers in all districts of Punjab in the month of November 2014. The main purpose of the camps would be to educate farmers about growing benefits in dairy profession. He said that besides, giving knowledge on different techniques of dairy farm management, the candidates would be imparted training in artificial insemination, pregnancy diagnosis and milk handling etc.
He further said that district level seminars would also be organized for dairy farmers at Sri Mukatsar Sahib, Roopnagar (November 4), village Ramgarh Kulia, Hoshiarpur (November 7), village Paragpur, Jalandhar (November 9), Patiala (November 19) and at Grain Market Sangrur on November 28.
Ranike said that if any dairy farmer is willing to avail subsidies to purchase livestock, insurance of milch animals, construction of sheds, fodder harvesters etc, Punjab Government is providing subsidy upto 75%. He said that interested dairy farmers can submit his/her application to concerned district deputy director dairy up to November 30.
The Punjab Government is also providing subsidy to start new pig and goat farms, he added. Ranike said that for General Category farmers subsidy is 25% and for Scheduled Caste farmers, department is giving 33% subsidy. He appealed farmers to increase their sources of income, the farmers will have to adopt allied business like dairy farming and animal husbandry.
