Nauni University to host Vice-Chancellors Conference on 3rd May

Horticulture Minister to grace inaugural event; Agriculture minister will be the Chief Guest for the plenary session

The Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF) is set to host the 9th Brain Storming Session-cum-Vice-Chancellors Conference at the University premises on 3-4th May, 2018. The Vice Chancellors of several agricultural and horticultural universities of the country will be attending the two-day event where they will deliberate on increase crop productivity and doubling the income of the farmers’.

The conference is being held under the aegis of the New Delhi based Indian Agricultural Universities Association (IAUA). The theme for the conference is ‘Alternative Farming Systems Involving Horticulture to Increase Crop Productivity and Doubling Farmers’ Income’.

The inaugural event will be held at the university on Thursday. Hon’ble Minister for IPH and Horticulture Sh. Mahender Singh Thakur will be gracing the inaugural event as Chief Guest. The Agriculture Minister Dr Ram Lal Markanda will be attending the plenary session of the conference.

During the two days, five technical sessions and a plenary session have been planned. Deliberations on topics like Mechanization and High-Density Plantation, Biotechnological Approaches and Cultivar Development, Integrated Farming Systems and Marketing, Nutrient and Pest Management in Horticultural Systems and Natural/ Organic Farming for sustainable Crop Production will be taken up for discussion.

“The Hon’ble Prime Minister has called upon the scientists and policymakers to double the farmers’ income by 2022 and this Brain Storming session will go a long way in developing the strategies for doubling the farmers’ income in India”, said Dr HC Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University. He added that the hosting the conference was a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh and YSP UHF.
