Ludhiana, May 13, 2016: While expressing solidarity with the parents of the students studying in the private schools who are agitating over the exorbitant fees and other charges by these schools the Communist Party of India (CPI) has said that the long lasting solution to such problems and to provide education to all is that the government should take the responsibility of providing school education.
In a statement here today Com D P Maur & Dr Arun Mitra – Asst. Secretaries of District Unit of the CPI, Com Ramesh Rattan – City Secretary and Com Gurnam Singh Sidhu Asstt. City Secretary CPI said that hardly any government school has been opened in the state in the last 30 years. As a result of this the private schools have mushroomed in the private sector which are charging exorbitant fees and other charges putting excess burden on the parents. Even the corporate sector has started investing heavily in the school education sector which has completely marginalized not only the poor but even the middle classes from the quality education. It is high time the government opens schools in large numbers with modern facilities and compulsory area wise schooling as in the developed countries where the children go to the school near to their home. This will reduce traffic burden and also increase the safety of the children.
