National Seminar on ‘Socio-Cultural Issues of Indo-Canadians’
Ludhiana, October 23, 2018: Parwasi Sahit Adhiyan Kendar of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, organised a one day National Seminar on ‘Socio-Cultural Issues of Indo-Canadians’. Dr A.S.Narang, former President, Shaastri Indo-Canadian Institute and Dr Jagroop Singh Sekhon, Professor, Department of Political Science, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and S.Jaswant Zafar, writer and poet, graced the occasion as chief guest and guests of honour, respectively, with their august presence. S.Gursharan Singh Narula, President, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council, Dr S.P.Singh, Honorary General Secretary, Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (former Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar) and Dr Arvinder Singh, worthy Principal of the college, extended a warm and floral welcome to the chief guest and the guests of honour.In his welcome address, the college Principal told the audience that it was the genuine efforts of Dr S.P. Singh to establish this kind of Kendar on the college premises and it was founded in 2011. Ever since its inception, the Kendar has been organising various kinds of academic activities in the form of National and International Seminars and Conferences, Book release ceremonies, one to one interaction and general discussions, etc. Dr S.P. Singh expressed his heartfelt feelings regarding the proud legacy of hundred years of this college. He told the students that this institute has always been active in organising such academic activities, to motivate and inspire the students to dream and dream big, so that they might attain their goal. He also told that the Kendar has published three books, four books are in the pipeline to be published. It has also signed a Memorandum of understanding with Punjab Bhawan, Surrey (Canada). Parwasi Sahit Adhiyan Kendar is going to organise a two-day International Conference entitled ‘Parwasi Punjabi Sahit: Global Paripekh’. The Seminar culminated with a vote of thanks, proposed by Prof Satwant Kaur, Dean, Social Sciences. She expressed her gratitude to the chief guest, guests of honour, delegates and students.
