Nation-Wide Cleanliness Campaign Extended Till October 31

Chandigarh, October 8, 2015: The Punjab Government has directed all officers of departments to extend and revise the Nation-wide Sanitation/Cleanliness campaign up to 31st October 2015.
An official spokesman of the Government today said that the Prime Minister had announced “Swachh Bharat Mission” on 2nd October, 2014 to achieve a clean India by the 150th birth anniversary of Mahamtma Gandhi in 2019. The Punjab Government through its departments has been  actively participating in this mission. As the first year of the mission draws to close, there is need to reiterate our commitment and reinvigorate   our efforts towards this national endeavour , he added.
Divulging more information he said that during the campaign, there is need to involve people of different walks of life in order to generate mass public awareness and an annual action plan for cleanliness has already prepared by the State. The Punjab Government has laid emphasis on keeping the rural and rural habitats clean, through cleaning of streets and establishing solid and liquid waste management plants. He said that building and providing sanitation facilities to people.  
The State Government has ordered to expedite the on going projects under National Cleanliness Campaign by cut out date fixed by Government Of India.
