MULTI SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE AT LUDHIANA TO START FUNCTIONING FROM OCTOBER 31

Ludhiana, September 12, 2016:Mr Sandeep Kaura, Advisor to Punjab Skill Development Mission, has informed that the Multi Skill Development Centre at ITI located on Gill Road, here, would start its operations from October 31, 2016. He said that besides this, three Urban Skill Development Centres are also coming up in the district- at Khanna, Sector 39 and Jamalpur along with 13 Rural Skill Development Centres. Mr Kaura said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal is committed for boosting skill development amongst the Punjabi youth and serious efforts are being made in this regard.
Mr Kaura was in the city today where he chaired a meeting with officials from various government departments. Later, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Miss Apneet Riyait, he also visited the Multi Skill Development Centre at ITI, Gill Road, here.
While addressing a press conference at Circuit House, here today, Mr Sandeep Kaura informed that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal is making serious efforts in terms of boosting skill development amongst our youth. He said that a total of six Multi Skill Development Centres are being set up in the state- at Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Bathinda, Patiala and Hoshiarpur. He informed that almost all of these centres are ready and classes here would start by next month.
Mr Kaura informed that the Punjab Skill Development Mission has been entrusted with the task of running these centres and has also tied up with prominent companies and industrial groups and have made them training partners to provide best skill training to youth according to needs of the local industry. He informed that Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal always emphasise on the need to utilise the services of local industrialists and manufacturers and devise special courses to impart skill training so that the students could be gainfully employed in the nearby industry.
He informed that the Mission has set itself a target of training atleast 1 lakh youth by December 31, 2017 and for this purpose, 200 Rural Skill Development Centres are coming up in the state along with several Urban Skill Development Centres. He said that for training the youth, who want to settle abroad, two International Skill Development Centres are coming up at Jalandhar and Amritsar. He said that Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal has already held a series of meetings with the High Commissioner of Canada, Australia, UK and other countries. He informed that at these centres, the youth would be trained as per the employment needs of that particular country. He said that the Mission has set itself a target of getting atleast 75 percent pass outs getting employment after the completion of their courses.

Mr Sandeep Kaura further stated that “Kaushal Mela’s” would soon be organised in different districts of the state where the youth would be made aware about various courses. He said that if any particular youngster does not know which course to choose as per his ability, a team of experts would guide him for that as well.
