This weekend on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, emotions flow in abundance as all the contestants, Mentor Mika Singh, Sajid Wajid and Pritam Chakraborty and even the host Aditya Narayan get a special surprise from their loved ones. The young singers have been living away from home for nearly three months now, gearing up for the finale and giving their best week on week. So it was time to surprise them by bringing down their parents.
It was a proud moment, indeed, for all the parents, as their children competing with thousands and reaching the top 6 of India's biggest singing reality show is no mean feat. While the spectacular performances were in full swing, it was the mentors' turn to express their love for their parents. On being asked how much he misses his parents, Mika who’s usually seen in great spirits all the time, went quiet and within seconds, tears flowed down his cheeks. Later, mentors Sajid- Wajid were in for a wonderful surprise. They were shown a small AV with a heartwarming message from their mother. The video said, “My kids are my life, I love all my sons but Wajid is really close to me.” Sajid shared, “My mother is more attached to Wajid, in fact she loves him more than any of us. While our mother is our strength, we miss our father a lot, he was our superhero, and despite being uneducated, brought us up so well, that today, the whole world knows us.”
While all the performances left the studio audiences spellbound, the mentors took off on a trip down memory lane to those special moments of their lives when the rains had truly touched their lives. Host Aditya Narayan, who often teases Pritam Da asked him, “If given a chance and if you were not married, whom would you like to take out on a date at Marine Drive in the rainy season?” Without batting an eyelid, Pritam Da replied, “I would have loved to take Madhubala!” Indeed, the monsoon fervor on the sets of Sa Re Ga Ma opened the floodgates to sweet memories. It was a monsoon moment that inspired mentor Mika Singh to pen the lyrics of his very first song ‘Saawan Mein Lag Gayee Aag’. The complete entertainer that Mika is, he captivated everyone recreating the romantic energy of the song on the sets as he sang the smash hit of 1998.
