Mardaani will not release in Pakistan

Mardaani is Yash Raj Films’ first film ever to get an A certificate. It is an edgy and gritty film that addresses the grave issue of human trafficking.

Everyone who has watched it has appreciated and applauded the film a lot. Mardaani is the most talked about film.

Rani Mukerji plays a cop in Mardaani and she is really powerful in the film. She essays a no nonsense cop extremely well and she has been widely praised for her role.

When the Pakistan censor board saw the film, they gave it an A certificate. Besides that, they also asked for several changes to be made around seven cuts. Moreover, they even asked for certain scenes to be blurred.

Creative team felt that this was leading to loss of the essence of narration of the film. These changes were leading to the message of the film being distorted and the essence being diluted.

The team had an internal discussion and they came to the conclusion that since they did not want to compromise on their film, they decided against releasing Mardaani in Pakistan.

Previously, YRF’s Ek Tha Tiger had got into a scuffle with the Pakistan censor board. Otherwise, all YRF films doing fantastic business in Pakistan.
