Chandigarh, October 3, 2016: S.Bhupinder Singh Mann, Ex MP, National President informed that BKU will submit a Petition to the Election Commission of India through CEO, Punjab on 5th October requesting the Election Commission to make Election Manifesto legally binding. The CEO Punjab has given time to BKU for submitting this important Petition which is focused to uphold the democratic processes.

S.Mann informed that a meeting of BKU was held on September 15 under his chairmanship and S. Baldev Singh Mianpur at Kisan Bhawan Chandigarh which was attended by large number of Kisan Leaders. In this meeting it was discussed, that before the elections, the political parties make tall promises in their manifestos to influence and woo voters in its favour. After the elections are over, these political parties simply forget these promises and the voters feel cheated and fooled by these false promises. It was decided in this meeting that BKU will submit a memorandum to Election Commission requesting to make the election manifesto legally binding.

He informed that there is lot of enthusiasm among people for this proposed petition. People feel that Manifestos are prepared just to cheat the citizens and it is high time that this menace in democracy should be brought to an end.
