Mahindra NBA Challenge League (July 28-Sept 9): Patiala, Muktsar dominate



Ludhiana, August 5, 2012: Patiala and Muktsar each gave a strong demonstration of their basketball talents in the Mahindra NBA Challenge at the Guru Nanak Stadium today with both schools seeing their under-18 boys and girls teams register fine victories.
For Patiala, it was the girls who led the way with a 49-35 win over Jalandhar in an under-18 D division match before the boys followed suit as they stamped their class in a 79-24 demolition of DPS, Ludhiana in their group D clash.
It was the other way around for Muktsar as their under-18 lads trounced KVM, Civil Lines 59-26 in a group B match which was superbly followed up by their under-18 girls who thrashed DPS, Ludhiana 43-7.
Meanwhile, Gymkhana Club, PAP School, Jalandhar and Major Kuldeep Memorial, Sujjapur each set the under-13 category alight with convincing wins arriving for all three. Gymkhana Club eased past Khalsa Senior Secondary, Potohar 32-2 in their D division tie while PAP, Jalandhar were also untroubled in their group A affair with Green Land Public School winning the game 32-10. Major Kuldeep Memorial Sujjapur destroyed Nav Bharti Public School 37-2 thanks to the combined shooting brilliance of Jaspinder and Ramandeep.
The Ludhiana leg of the Mahindra NBA Challenge is into its third edition and is being
conducted in collaboration with the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) and Punjab Basketball Association. The programme will run for seven weeks culminating on September 9.
