SUKHBIR COMES TO THE AIDE OF BLIND NATIONAL SHOT-PUT PLAYER

Chandigarh, September 12, 2012: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has come to the aide of 25 year old blind girl, Noorie alias Balwinder Kaur who had made her mark in state and national level shot-put discus throw, javelin besides known for her dancing skills on various television shows.

Balwinder Kaur accompanied by this father today called on Punjab Deputy Chief Minister in his office pleading her case. Balwinder Kaur’s father is a driver who has a large family to support including five daughters and two sons, therefore he was unable to pay for her medical expenses. Balwinder Kaur requested that besides being a national player she has proved her dancing skills on television show, “India’s Got Talent”.

Badal asked Secretary Sports P.S. Aujla to work out the total treatment plan to restore the eye sight of promising player Balwinder Kaur and promised that Punjab government would pay total expenses for her treatment. He said that once fully treated the Punjab government would engage a coach to provide specialized training to her.

Balwinder Kaur informed that she lost her eye sight seven years ago in an accident that left her sightless. She informed that she had won eight gold medals, two silver and a bronze medal at national-level in shot put and discuss throw, that also without any coach
