Mahesh Babu: Viewers saw Harsha, but not Mahesh Babu!

Zee Cinema, the world’s biggest theatre for Hindi movies is set to showcase another mega entertainer The Real Tevar on Sunday, 19th April at 9 PM. The movie stars Mahesh Babu, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in lead roles and tells the story of Harsha (Mahesh Babu), the son of billionaire Ravikanth (Jagapati Babu), who rejects his father’s capitalist ways in order to pursue his own socialist leanings, and to earn some respect for himself that isn’t rooted in the family’s wealth. The lead actor Mahesh Babu spoke about the movie.

Q. What is your view about the movie – The Real Tevar?
The movie is a complete family entertainer and will appeal to all. It is about family values and love and rich in content. ‘Content is King’ fits perfectly well to this movie. Even the dialogues of the movie are impactful because of the situation created around it. The character Harsha that I have played is very different from the other roles done by me and I could relate to the character which helped me play it better.

Q. The movie was a box office hit. Whom do you owe it to?
Siva (writer and director) is an amazing writer and gave a very clear narrative. He is flawless in his work which made the movie a success. And I am very happy about it.

Q. Shruti Haasan and you worked for the first time together. How was the experience?
She is fun to be with on the sets and is multi-talented. Most importantly she is very professional and performs really well.

Q. Shot in Malaysia, Hyderabad, and Pune, the film has you playing Jagapati Babu’s son. How did he come on board to play the role?
I wasn’t sure if he would agree to play my father but once he read the script, he was impressed and agreed. Our scenes have turned out quite well. He has played his part perfectly as a father would.

Q. Any compliment you remember that you received for the movie?
‘Viewers saw Harsha, but not Mahesh Babu’ and that is by far the best compliment I have received. The character is very special to me. The way he talks and dresses is very similar to my personal style. There is purity in the character and I would like to thank the director for such an amazing characterization which received a lot of appreciation.
