LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019: REPRESENTATIVES OF POLITICAL PARTIES/PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES SENSITISED ABOUT ELECTION PROCESS
Ludhiana, April 16, 2019: The representatives of political parties and prospective candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 elections were today sensitised about the various aspects of election process. A meeting in this regard was held at Bachat Bhawan, here, which was chaired by District Election Officer Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal. During the meeting, the representatives of political parties and prospective candidates were briefed about process under which expenditure related to publicity is to be maintained by them. The representatives of political parties and prospective candidates were briefed in detail about the expenditure limit, ways to maintain record of expenditure, getting expenditure registered checked from ARO/Expenditure Observer etc. Besides, they were also sensitised about filing of nominations, model code of conduct, various permissions, working of EVMs, mock poll, counting process etc. Mr Agrawal informed that polling booths have been set up in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies of the district, where VVPAT machines would be installed along with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). On this occasion, the representatives of political parties and prospective candidates were also briefed about the functioning of EVM as well as VVPAT machines. He also appealed to representatives of political parties and prospective candidates to ensure that there is no violation of model code of conduct from their side. Prominent among those present on the occasion included ADC (Jagraon) Mrs Neeru Katyal Gupta, Mr Buta Singh Sangowal from Bahujan Samaj Party, Mr Devraj from CPI, Mr Ramesh Kapoor from AAP, Mr Harkamal Singh from Shiromani Akali Dal, Mr Jaspal Singh from Indian National Congress, Mr Arun Sidhu from NCP, besides prospective candidates namely Mr Gurbaksh Singh Midha, Mr Suresh Goyal Nikku, Mr Prem Singh and Mr Gurcharan Singh.
