Lok Adalat settles 37 cases

Ferozepur, September 30, 2012: In the  monthly Lok Adalat  held on Saturday, in the District Courts Complex under the supervision of Fatehdeep Singh, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, 37 were settled amicably.

In all, 84 cases were presented before the Lok Adalat, consisting of a Judge, Senior Advocate and a representative of local NGOs, of which 37 cases were solved amicably and the award of Rs.72,99,573 were passed of civil, marital dispute, motor accident claim, rent act nature and the cases where amicable settlement was possible.

Giving the details of proceedings of Lok Adalat, secretary, District Legal Services Authority Ferozepur Jaspal Verma informed that Lok Adalat are meant to settle cases amicably and hassle free. Apart from the criminal cases of serious nature, all other cases are solved at the Lok Adalat. Even those cases, which are not pending with the court, can be brought before it for decision.

Jaspal Verma claimed that the cases settled in court are termed as decree of the court and no appeal can be filed against the settlement in Lok Adalats.

The Lok Adalats were presided over by the judges alongwith senior advocate and NGOs as members
