Dharamshala, August 1, 2017: BJP MP, Anurag Thakur lashed out at the State Government for worsening the law and order in the State. He stated this in relation to the sexual harassment case of a minor schoolgirl in Tissa of Chamba district that was later, followed by unrest situation in the district.

Commenting on the incident, through a press release Thakur said, “It is extremely unfortunate to witness the current law and order situation of the State. The number of rape cases have risen exponentially in the State and is becoming an alarming situation for girls and women at large. The recent case of rape and murder of Gudiya and now sexual harassment of a minor girl in Chamba has left the public is dismay with the State Government. Due to the failure of State Government and police in handling Gudiya’s case, the public has lost complete faith in the State Government and has resorted to taking law onto themselves.”

He further added,“Chief Minister was supposed to visit Tissa yesterday but given to the unrest and no control over the situation he cancelled his visit. This only goes to show the poor situation of law and order of the State. It seems that the Chief Minister is only interested in getting name plates in his name that is why he is only seen laying foundation stones of projects, however, there is no progress on ground on these projects too. This extreme failure of State Government is rather encouraging the corrupt minded as they think they can get away with any crime as the State Government and law & order of the State are unable to act swiftly and effectively.”

On the other hand, a press release of HP Government said today that after a joint meeting of peace committee held at Tissa, the issue is resolved now. Prominent persons of both communities were present. They pledged to maintain peace and harmony. DC Chamba Sudesh Mokhta said, "A peace march was also taken out at Tissa.”
