Lathicharge on teachers barbaric act against “architects of our children’s destiny”: Sukhbir
Jagraon /Ludhiana/ Chandigarh, February 11, 2019: The SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal today described as “barbaric and inhuman in the extreme the indiscriminate use of brute force by an arrogant government “ against agitating teachers in Patiala yesterday. Addressing party workers in different places in Jagraon and Ludhiana today, Mr Badal said that such" wanton use of repressive violence by a power-drunk Congress government against peacefully agitating teachers showed the true ugly face of an undemocratic government which believed in functioning like erstwhile monarch and dictators. " Mr Badal said that the government's "heartless approach against already suffering and helpless teachers presented an extreme contrast with the approach adopted by former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal who would always come out of his residence to receive and welcome protesters belonging even to the opposition parties. And then, these teachers are the architects of the destiny of our teachers. If this is how we treat them, this reflects on how casual and careless is our approach to the builders of our future generations." Mr Badal said that all development activity in the state had come to a standstill in the past couple of years. "The ten years of SAD-BJP government in the state saw unprecedented development in every sphere. Every village, town and city in the city bears a witness to the wave of development infrastructure and social sectors. In comparison, there is no development taking place. Even the projects already started by our government are moving at a snail's pace despite all financial clearances already secured during our tenure. Thanks to our focus on development, most of Punjab today has world-class state highways which makes our state the nation-leader in infrastructure development Mr Badal said when the SAD-BJP regains the right to serve the people of Punjab, "We will transform the face of rural Punjab and make it even better than the urban areas. All 12,500 villages in the state will be provided streets of concrete. Every village will have sewerage and water supply on the pattern of urban areas." He said that the focus of SAD-BJP had always been on social welfare and development where the present government relied only on sensationalism and cheap gimmicks totally neglecting the welfare of the people and the issues of development of the state."
