#FeedToDefeat: Level-up the Fight against Breast Cancer by Breastfeeding
New Delhi, October 18, 2016: Medela India, the world’s leading global producer of breast pumps and nursing accessories, will be hosting the third edition of LactoClave on 20th October. The topic for the discussion will be ‘#FeedToDefeat: Level- up the Fight against Breast Cancer by Breastfeeding’. The number of breast cancer patients in India is gradually increasing over the years. Studies have shown time and again that there is a crucial link between breast cancer prevention and breastfeeding. Owing to busy lifestyles, late motherhood trends and succumbing to social and professional stress women generally tend to avoid breastfeeding, making them vulnerable to breast cancer. Therefore, the objective of this panel discussion is to create awareness on the occurrence, early diagnosis, treatment, effects of breast cancer and highlight the link between breastfeeding and breast cancer.

Breast cancer accounts for 25%-32% of all cancer in females. A recent cancer statistics study conducted by World Cancer Research Fund highlights that women who breastfeed for at least a year are 5% less likely to develop breast cancer. Therefore, there is a dire need to spread awareness on the occurrence of breast cancer and how early intervention of breastfeeding can help in reducing this dangerous disease.

LactoClave 3rd edition will be a webinar which will take place October 20th from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. The panel discussion will comprise renowned and experienced experts. The panelists will include Dr Sidharth Sahni, Senior Consultant Breast and Oncoplastic Surgeon at Apollo Indraprastha Hospital, Dr Ruchika Nagrath, Lamaze certified child birth educator, Victoria Kumar, Education Manager and In-House Lactation Consultant, Medela India and Priya Chadha who is a breast cancer survivor.
