KMV’s Suman Khurana Gets MOOCs Certification
Jalandhar, November 25, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Jalandhar have always been known for its outstanding quality in the field of education. Adding one more feather to its cap, Mrs Suman Khurana, Head, PG Department of Computer Science & Applications has obtained ELITE Certification on the Course Knowledge Management through IIT Kharagpur. It is worth mentioning here that there are various types of Academic initiatives being organized from time to time for the professional development of academicians. One such initiative is the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). In India, its implementation is taken care of by NPTEL- National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, funded by MHRD Govt. of India and powered by Google. It is an initiative by seven IITs and IISc for creating course contents in engineering and science. Certification is given by concerned IIT or IISc. Mrs Khurana shared that self driven mastery in MOOCs highlight positive impact on the learner. The online courses offered are currently free of cost for anyone wishing to enroll and learn, but to earn a certificate, getting registered to an in-person proctored examination is mandatory. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated her for this innovative approach of learning. She averred that all the teachers should develop themselves professionally to have a better clarity on their subject. She added that adapting to an open course with an undefined large group of learners is a real challenge and Mrs Suman Khurana has proved herself by coming in the top 5 positions out of 116 candidates.
