KMV's Department of Student Welfare Expanded
Jalandhar, January 7, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Jalandhar's Department of Student Welfare has been expanded. Throwing light on this Principal Prof.Atima Sharma Dwivedi maintained that the KMV's Department of Student Welfare had been established in 2008 and was modelled on the Student Welfare Departments of acclaimed Universities. John Battaglino, Dean Student Welfare, Boston University USA has been frequenting KMVfor many years. During his annual visits he has given many valuable suggestions to make the Student Welfare Department more effective. Many new steps have been taken to enhance the efficiency and efficacy of the department. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi further maintained that with the status of Autonomous institution the responsibilities of the Dean have increased manifold. She was highly appreciative of Dr Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare who had been looking into the nitty- gritty of student affairs and providing them with the valuable guidance, counselling & assistance, if and when required. She averred that many cells which are operating under the Dept. of Student Welfare have played a pivotal role in dispelling the problems of the students. Some of the cells are Anti-Ragging Cell, Counselling Cell, Grievance Redressal Cell, Cell Against Sexual Harassment & Lost and Found Cell. These cells ensure the holistic well being of the students. Then there are clubs like Red Ribbon Club, Reader's Club, Student Wellness Club, Stress Buster Club, Saplings of Life Club & Book Bank which conduct such activities which are of tremendous benefit for the students. Committees which are included in the Department of Student Welfare are Student Council, Canteen & Mess Committee, Mentoring Committee, PTM Committee, Scholarship, Concessions & Financial Aid Committee, Infrastructure & Beautification Committee, Information & Display Boards Committee, Resident Life Committee, Student Attendance Committee & Transport Committee. Some other activities performed annually by Student Welfare Department include installing Help Desk to guide new entrants, Achiever's Day Celebrations, Awareness Rallies and Campaigns, Observing International and National Days, Celebrating Festivals like Basant, Lohri etc, organizing Blood Donation camp, eye check-up camp, dental camp, health camp etc. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the members of Student Welfare and also congratulated the new members for being inducted as a valuable members of this very valuable Department. She wished Dr Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare, Mrs Rashmi Sharma, Dr Neetu Chopra, Co-ordinators & members Dr IqbalKaur, Mrs Sadhna Tandon, Mr Pardeep Kumar, Dr Manju Sahni, Mrs Amarpreet Khurana, Mr s Amarjot, Mrs Neeti, Mrs Mani, Ms Gurline Kaur, Ms Radhika, Mr Sonik Bhatia and Dr. Deepika all the best in all their upcoming ventures. Dr Madhumeet, Dean Student Welfare assured the smooth working of the department and averred that the students will continue to stand to gain from the department as the members are available 24X7 to the students and lend them a patient ear whenever & wherever required.
