Hindi Department PU remembers Vajpayee
Chandigarh, August 31, 2018: Paying tribute to ShriAtalBihari Vajpayee, former prime minister, revered politician, and the soulful poet; Department of Hindi, PU, today organized a special event ‘GeetNayaGaata Hu’ bringing together the masterpieces from his literary works. The event focused on highlighting the poetic genius of the politician whose works are believed to be a rich heritage for literature. Chairperson of Hindi department Dr Gurmeet Singh informed that the event had poetry recitals from the students of the Department followed by discussion and interaction on Vajpayee 's works. The event also included a video screening where Vajpayee’s work have been recited by Jagjit Singh. Another video of Vajpayee’s recital of his poetic works was also screened during the event. The students who participated in the event included Happi, Shakuntla, Ankita, Vinita Kumari, Suman, Raj Kaur, Anita, Shehnaz, Rachna, Neha, Vandana and Nirmala. PU syndicate member Dr Subhash Sharma also graced the occasion and shared his personal experience with Shri Vajpayee. Along with poetic recitals of Shri Vajpayee, students of the Department also paid tribute to Amrita Pritam as it happened to be her birth anniversary today. Much acclaimed and loved poet and writer Amrita Pritam holds a special place amongst the leading 20th century thinkers and has over a 100 books in poetry and fiction which have found a global audience. The event was brought together by 'Kahi- Ankahi’ the literary club of the Department that has been organizing a number of events to enrich the students with the literary works of authors, poets and thinkers
