KMVites Celebrate Republic Day & 9th National Voter Day with Patriotic Zeal & Fervour
Jalandhar, January 25, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- The Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar celebrated Republic Day and 9th National Voter Day, based on the theme 'No Voter to be Left Behind'. KMV has made pioneer effort since 2011 for the awareness among the students and general public about their role as a voter. The function was organized by Department of Political Science and Student Welfare. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi addressed the students about their duty of being a responsible voter and discussed about their voting rights and also congratulated them on the republic day celebration. Thereafter, the prize were distributed for their participation in activities like - Declamation, Slogan writing, Poster Making and power point presentation. SVEEP campus ambassadors were honoured for their dedicated work regarding voter registration of the new voters for the session 2018-19. Keeping in mind the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2019, the students were given the training regarding innovative methods of voter registration through door to door campaign in their residential areas. For this purpose, four groups were formed and each group will be headed by a captain. The investiture ceremony of the captains was also conducted. To mark the Republic Day, a Face Painting competition was also organized by the department of Cosmetology on the occasion and a Food stall was also showcased for the students by the Food Science department. At the end of the function, the students took the oath for honestly performing the duties of voter as a citizen of India. Principal also congratulated the organizers Dr Madhumeet, Mrs Ashima Sahni, Dr Iqbal Singh and Ramanpreet Kaur for this great initiative. Ms Navjot, KMV Head Girl and Priya, BA Sem IV student conducted the stage very immaculately.
