KMV, Jalandhar organising Industrial and Educational trip to Surajkund Craft Fair held in Haryana recently. 

Jalandhar, February 19, 2015: A well-unit group of 32 students of B.Sc.II Semester and VI semester of Fashion Designing Department lead by Prof.Harpreet Kaur, HOD, Fashion Designing and three faculty members visited the 29th Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Haryana recently.  The theme state of 2015 was Chattisgarh, the partner nation was the Republic of Lebanon.  The artisans of Bastar in action were a rare feast for the eyes of the young learners.  Many skilled craftsperson and creative artists showcased their award-winning crafts.  National awardees amazed the students with their skill and first-hand knowledge of the craft.  Traditional dance costumes, displayed by the traditional dancers while giving a dance performance were a bonus to the creative crafts atmosphere. 
Students got the opportunity to see artifacts and handicrafts of almost all the states of India.  Some of the handicrafts were Kantha, Kalamkari, block printing, stone-painting, miniature paintings, banarasi brocades, Madhubani paintings, worli art, theva jewellery, ikat textiles. Etc. 
The faculty and students profusely thanked Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi for being the inspiration behind the excursion.  
Dr. Atima Sharma observed that such practical learning experiences were a great opportunity for the students and congratulated the Department on its successful completion.
