5-Day INSPIRE Camp sponsored by DST being inaugurated at KMV, Jalandhar on Tuesday.

Jalandhar, November 18, 2014:  To attract promising youth towards science stream and to strengthen the National Science and Technology base in India, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized INSPIRE (Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research) Internship Programme designed by Govt. of India.  The Chief Guest of the day Sh. Chander Mohanji, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal was accorded floral felicitations for the inaugural session.  Welcoming the eminent guests, the college Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi motivated the young learners to ‘Dream Big, Achieve Big’ as the world is looking up to India as a young country.  A plethora of career options in Science is awaiting those who single-mindedly pursue their interest.  The Chief Guest, Chander Mohanji elucidated that hardwork, discipline and knowledge are essential virtues that lead one to success, no matter what the area of research is.  INSPIRE camp in KMV has been providing a healthy ground for intellectual exchange of ideas between mentors and students to stimulate their curiosity in the this part of the region science 2011.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Sushma Chopra, Secretary, KMV Managing Committee, urged the budding scholars that science is that torch which illuminated the world where knowledge knows no geographical barriers.  Quoting Lois Pasteur, she acknowledgement the colossal role of scientific researchers who have led the world to unprecedented growth in the human progress.

Dr. Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee, also a Guest of Honour stressed upon the need of good health in the pursuit of Goal and cleansing of inner soul i.e. mind through positive thinking and meditation.  She owed her success as a doctor of medical science to Kanya Maha Vidyalaya.

Presiding over the session Dr. R.K. Bedi, Former Professor of Physics, GNDU, Asr. elaborated that exponential growth all over the world makes it incumbent to equip students with fundamental branches of science which is not only a body of knowledge but also a process.  He illustrated from day-today life that how systematic cohesion of isolated facts can lead to innovations.

Extending a formal vote of thanks, Dr. Sonik Bhatia, PG Department of Physics briefed that 204 students joining this camp from 34 scholar of Punjab form top 1% students of CBSE, PSEB and ICSE Boards.  Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS) sponsored by DST aims to attract budding scientists and boost their interest.

On the first day of the camp, Dr. Gopi Sharma, PG Department of Physics, KMV explained how new breakthrough are being made by scientists the glass research proving it to be a wonderful architectural component in an eco-friendly house.  The campers were enthused to enjoy the Physics workshop “Fun with Physics” conducted by Dr. Neetu Chopra, PG Dept. of Physics, KMV.
