Ferozepur, June 9, 2016: Cabinet Minister Surjit Jiyani today slammed Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for presenting a wrong picture of Punjab for the usage of drugs. The cabinet minister was here in this border district where he laid the foundation stone of Primary Health Centre (PHC) to be constructed at Village Armanpura near Ferozepur at the cost of Rs.1.22 Cr.
While interacting with the media persons, Jiyani said that the leaders of Congress and AAP are diminishing the image of the state for their vested interests. The health minister claimed that during a recent survey which was conducted in ten states, only 1.8 percent people consume drugs in the state which is far less than other states.
While slamming the AAP and congress leaders Jiyani said that due to its geographical position, Punjab is combating with menace of drugs for the last several years. “The state government with the help of Central security agencies has managed to curb the menace of drugs but it is very sad that few people are presenting a wrong picture”, said the cabinet minister.
Jiyani claimed that during last nine years, Punjab has received several awards for all-round development in the state. Jiyani claimed that for SAD-BJP regime will come back for the third consecutive time after the upcoming assembly elections.
Replying to another query, Jiyani also praised the decision of Prime Minister Narender Modi for extending the retirement age of specialist doctors. Jiyani said that the decision will help in combating with the dearth of specialist doctors.
Kamal Sharma, former State BJP President thanked the state government for the PHC to be constructed at Village Armanpura. Kamal Sharma said that the construction of this PHC will boost the condition of health services in this border region.
On this occasion DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Manminder Singh, SSP, Ferozepur, DP Chandan, Chairman, District Planning Commission, Jugraj Singh Katora, Chairman Market Committee, Ferozepur, SGPC member Darshan Singh Sherkhan, Balwinder Singh Bhabhalanda and other were present.
