Jyani gets complaint/suggestion box installed at Social Security Department

Chandigarh, April 6, 2015: Punjab Social Security and Child Development Minister Surjit Kumar Jyani today got a complaint/suggestion box installed at Social Security Directorate in sector 34 here with a focus to streamline the functioning of department.

The complaint box having contact numbers of Jyani 99157-08000 and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Nesara Khatoon 99886-38497 would be opened by the minister himself on weekly basis in the presence of senior officers.

Giving details in this regard, a spokesperson of the department said that a sole aim behind installation of this box to keep a close tap on the functioning of department and check corruption at ground level besides addressing the issues of general masses. The complaints received would be redressed within 15 days ensuring necessary action.

The Minister has asked the deputy director Rajneesh Jasra to ensure the presence of officers concerned at the time of opening the box. He also said that on the directions of the minister every complaint would be attended and followed minutely. He, however, said that on the request of the complainant the name and credentials would be kept secret even anonymous letters would be considered. According to the spokesperson, this step was taken after getting success in solving complaints in the Health department where similar complaint box was installed in November 2014.  He also said that this complaint box would help to have better understanding and coordination between the minister and general public with a view to make functioning of social security department more effective. He said it would also help to have better monitoring on the department’s work besides sorting out problems being faced by general masses.
