Jalandhar, September 23, 2015: The Jalandhar administration has all set to start the paddy procurement from October 1 in the 78 mandis of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar Mr.Kamal Kishor Yadav today directed all the representatives of the procurements agencies to personally supervise the Paddy procurement operations to ensure prompt lifting of paddy as per their allotted share of procurement.
He said that Jalandhar district has set the target to procure 8,55,275 MT of paddy this year as against 7,68,552 MT of paddy procured last year.
He said that all out efforts should be made to ensure smooth, hassle free and quick procurement of Paddy on one hand and facilitate the farmers in getting timely payment of their produce on the other. He also asked the Punjab Mandi Board officials to make sure of arrangements in mandis to save produce and to have proper sanitation facilities besides district food and supply controller and district mandi officer to make requisite arrangement of power, sheds for the farmers, portable water supply and equipment to monitor the quality of paddy in each procurement centre.
Mr. Yadav has also said that for smooth procurement, mandis were allocated to all procurement agencies besides fixing their estimated targets for paddy purchase. Out of total 100 %, PUNGRAIN was instructed to procure 27 %, MARKFED 19 %, PUNSUP 21 %, PSWC 9 %, PUNJAB AGRO 11 % and 13 % would be procured by the FCI, he added.
He also said that the officers concerned have been especially asked to visit the mandis during the procurement and ensure smooth lifting.
