International Students Football Tournament kicked off to grand start at PCTE

Players in action during the International Students Football Tournament kicked off to a grand start on Thursday at PCTE Group of Institutesat Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, December 11, 2014: The International Students Football Tournament kicked off to a grand start today at PCTE Group of Institutes with students of 28 countries participating in the sporting event. The event was inaugurated by Dr K N S Kang, Director General, PCTE Group along with Dr V.P Mishra, Director, PCTE Campus 1. Student teams of Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea Bissau, Angola, and India will be fighting for the title in the tournament.
The tournament started with the Match between DRC Vs Uganda followed by the much awaited match between India Vs South Sudan. Uganda won the first match over DRC-Brazzaville with 4-2 whereas India won the second match by 2-1 from South Sudan. Both the matches were very enthusiastically witnessed by the crowd. Students of their native countries supported teams throughout the match.  
Cedrick, student from DRC and organizer of the tournament was excited to have the opportunity for students to display their Soccer skills. “I invite all football lovers and fans to encourage their respective teams in the tournament. You will see firsthand the excitement of youth involvement from various nationals in football," said Cedrick.
On the occasion, Dr K.N.S. Kang, Director General, PCTE group of institutes said that PCTE has 230 odd International students from different countries who are studying in different courses at PCTE. From almost a decade PCTE has been celebrating the existence of different races and diverse culture on campus through such events. Dr. Kang further said that such events promote sense of brotherhood and team spirit among the students. He said that it’s a great opportunity for Indian students to learn and compare themselves with foreign students, which in turn will prepare them to take bigger challenges in the global competitive world.
