Jalandhar, November 15, 2016: The five day Inspire Internship Science Camp being held at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya from 15th November to 19th November was inaugurated today by the Camp Director and College Principal Prof.Dr.(Mrs.) Ajay Sareen and chief guest Dr.R.K.Mahajan, Dean College Development Council, GNDU Amritsar along with the keynote speakers Dr.Rakesh Kumar Tuli, Senior Research Advisor and Sh. J.C. Bose, National Fellow, Panjab University Chandigarh. The event began with the lighting of lamp followed by DAV Anthem. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen welcomed the guests and encouraged the students to maintain scientific temper by being curious. She further said that Indians are blessed with the quality of being humble and intellectual brains which makes them best in the world.
The chief guest Dr. R.K. Mahajan inspired the students by saying that they have fathomless capabilities that should be channelized towards the right direction.
The key note speaker of the day Dr. Rakesh Kumar Tuli emphasized the fact that science is inspired by nature. The design of artificial limbs, liver, kidney, artificial vision, tooth, reconstruction etc. are all based upon nature. The field of artificial body part implantation is a challenging task for Indian scientists. The foreign companies are looking forward towards Indian participation in the field. Dr. Sher Ali, Professor, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, Jamia Milia Islamia Univ., New Delhi provided valuable information about genomics of Y chromosomes to the students. Dr. Vandana Bhalla, Deptt. of Chemistry, GNDU told the students about contribution of chemistry for drug development.
About 200 students from 20 schools of Punjab are attending this five day camp sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Indian Government. The schedule comprises of a variety of innovative ways to transfer knowledge about latest scientific achievements through interactive sessions. Dr. Harpreet Singh, Coordinator of the camp, Dr. Meenakshi Syal, Dean Academics, Mrs. Jyoti Kaul, Mrs. Rakesh Uppal, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Mrs. Deepshikha, Dr. Meena Sharma, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Dr. Shweta Chauhan, Dr. Jitender Kumar, Mrs. Purnima, Dr. Nitika, Mr. Sumit Kumar also graced the occasion with their presence. Dr. Anjana Bhatia successful conducted the event as a stage secretary.
