Himachal Government implements Freight Subsidy Scheme

Shimla, August 24, 2015: Himachal Pradesh Government is implementing Freight Subsidy Scheme- 2013 as notified by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, and Government of India.
A spokesperson of Industries Department said that here today the beneficiaries covered under the subsidy scheme would include all new public and private sector industrial units and those existing units which would make substantial expansion during period of scheme.
He said that the Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSME) set up by both Public and Private sector by additional investment thereby resulting in increase of at least 25 percent of the registered capacity would be eligible for reimbursement of 75 percent of transportation cost.  The reimbursement for transportation would be given for bringing the raw material to the location of industrial unit and supply of finished goods outside the State upto the nearest designated rail head, which include Kalka, Kiratpur Sahib, Pathankot, Jagadhiri (Yamuna Nagar).
He said that the scheme would remain in force till January 22nd, 2018 and pre- registration under the scheme before commencement of commercial production for new units and before expansion for existing units is a must. He further informed that the claim is required to be submitted within one year of Commencement of Production (COP) for new units and within one year of COP after expansion (on expanded capacity only) for existing units.
He notified that Freight subsidy would be admissible for a period of 5 years from the commencement of production or expansion and cash payments for an account of freight charges would not be considered.
