Himachal CM reviews security arrangements in State

Shimla, January 5, 2016: Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh has directed the State security and intelligence agencies to remain vigilant especially in the border areas to tackle any possibility of terror attack in the State.
The Chief Minister today held a meeting with the senior officers of the State Police, Security, Intelligence and Home department to discuss and take stock of the security arrangements in the State after in view of the recent terrorist attack in Pathankot.
He said though the State Police had already issued directions to all districts to make necessary security arrangements, but they had been again asked to ensure there was no security lapse. He said additional police force had been deployed in the posts set up in the border areas. The trained commandos equipped with modern equipments had also been deployed in the bordering areas wherever required and more commandos would be deployed, if need was felt.
Shri Virbhadra Singh said though the security situation was normal in the State but strict watch was being kept to avoid any eventuality. The State police and intelligence had been directed to remain alert on the border areas. Directions had been issued to keep a close eye on the movement of suspected persons and make security arrangements on all public, religious and vital destinations in the State.
He said the senior police and security officers had been directed to ensure appropriate safety arrangements in their respective areas and also to maintain coordination with the security forces of the neighbouring States so that preparations could be made as per the situation.
  The Chief Minister said Himachal Pradesh police had always extended support to fight the terrorism in Punjab and Jammu-Kashmir whenever situation had arisen and the State was committed to keep up proper coordination with the neighbouring States to fight the terrorism in future also.
He also urged the people of the State to remain watchful and if any suspect especially wearing the police or army dress was noticed, they should immediately report to the security agencies.
Director General of Police Shri Sanjay Kumar briefed about the preparations and arrangements of the State police to handle any possibility of terror attack in the State.
The senior officers of the State Police, Security, Intelligence and Home department attended the meeting.
